Martin Angume: ‘Switched’ to another world

Although Martin Angume, a member of the Compressive Band music group, had been seriously ill for a long time, his death still shocked many of his fans.
According to Ugonews, Angume breathed his last from Mulago Hospital. It is reported that he had been battling kidney, liver and lung illness for over a month. There have always been numerous false reports about the health of Angume, at one point he was pronounced dead when he went in coma.
He is survived by two wives and three children, according to local reports. Angume rose to fame in the late 1990s when he collaborated with Betty Mpologoma to release their first album which was a hit in Uganda. In early 2000’s with songs like Gear, Switch, Yagala Mussaja wo, Ekirungo Kyo Mukwano and others won him many music lovers’ hearts. He was a non Muganda who sang Luganda lyrics so well.
Angume later joined Diamond Essembles of Kato Lubwama, which he quit to form Comprehensive Band whose home is at Comprehensive Hotel in Nateete.
