What you need to know:

The key ingredient of the campaign will be encouragement of Africans to be the drivers of a positive impact on the continent through their stories and activities

For a Ugandan in the audience, the familiar face and voice of Bongo Flava star Diamond would have been enough for enjoyment of the song. However, the universal nature of music overcame boundaries as five other artistes from different African countries brought their talents in sync in a collaboration song, Rise up. Both the live performance and video featuring Nigeria’s Davido and Tiwa Savage, Ghana’s Sarkodie and Lola, and South Africa’s Mi Casa, were headliners for Multichoice’s Africa Rising Campaign that was launched on Tuesday June 24 in Mauritius. The campaign that is designed to inspire Africans to become involved in community-based social up-liftment projects, will see the pay television engage different countries in not only creating content for channels, but also community activities which make a difference in lives. The key ingredient of the campaign will be encouragement of Africans to be the drivers of a positive impact on the continent through their stories and activities. Africa Rising campaign launch was part of a week-long series of events dubed Multichoice Content Extravaganza that took place at Trou Aux Biches Resort and Spa in Mauritius, where journalists from different African countries interacted with personalities from the different television programmes through themed events.
