NTV’s Faridah Nakazibwe upbeat ahead of Uganda Festival in Washington

NTV news anchor Faridah Nakazibwe and her colleague, KFM D’Mighty breakfast show host Brian Mulondo have been selected to host the grand opening Dinner Gala during the Uganda Festival in Washington DC in August.

The festival, also dubbed summer’s Ultimate event is due to take place this year from August 31- September 3 at Gaylord National Resort- National Harbor, in Washington DC. It is organized by Ugandans in the diaspora under their umbrella body UNAA Causes.

According to Nakazibwe, her invite for the festival would not come at a better time than this.

“The distance is no more, let's meet in Washington this year. I am looking forward to profiling an available Ugandan, free to share their story of the hustle, bustle, challenges, joys and realities of living away from home. I’m ready for whoever is,” she said.

“This is chance for me to meet and interact with the many Ugandans in the diaspora who have been in touch with me and wondering how we can help our people back home,” she added.

Nakazibwe joins at the time when UNAA Causes is consolidating the entrepreneurship club, which aims at pooling resources to set up a restaurant chain in USA among other business prospects.

The diaspora association is also running a clean water benefit fund where proceeds of the festival and channelled into providing safe and clean water to Ugandans back home. According to Nakazibwe, this is compatible with the dream she has been cooking for years and roles she wants to play within her community in Uganda.

“This is most definitely a privilege, an honor, opportunity to help me further push a dream I have been cooking for some years. It will open doors for me as a woman who has been helping uplift life from the backyard. As a host of a real life show, many people have run to me for solutions. I have tried to help but with limited resources. I decided to start a foundation with an aim to uplift, motivate, inspire, counsel and empower especially the less privileged. It is a work in progress and I believe my invite to UNNA couldn't have come at a better time than this.”

Also expected at the festival are; Crystal Newman, NTV’s Betinah Tianah, Fashionistas Fatumah Nakaziba, Santa Anzo among others.

Ugandan artistes; Afrigo Bang, Weasel, Fille Mutoni, Lydia Jazmine, Geo Steady, Chris Evans and Isiah Katumwa, will provide entertainment that will include a 6-hour boat cruise with live music.
