NTV’s talent search competition, Talent XP’s next stop was Kampala. And this being the capital city of the country, the best talent the country has to offer was expected. The show airs at 7.50pm every Sunday and the judges Bebe Cool, Jackie Chandiru, Phad Mutumba and Michael Kasaijja were anxiously waiting to expose contestants’ talents.
The show’s hosts MC Kats and Robi Kisti (both presenters on NTV) know how to morale boost the contenders, with their slogan, “You got the talent, we got the stage”. The contestants were all confident, hoping to make it all the way to the Shs20m grand prize, but unfortunately the decision of who progresses lay with the judges.
In the previous episodes of Talent XP, we could see the judges sing and dance while contenders were on stage doing their thing. For the Kampala auditions, it was the contrary as judges’ smiles were reserved for a few who deserved them.
The dancers were mostly doing breakdance, which was common and it couldn’t impress the judges. Other people were not even told whether they were good, mediocre or bad, they were told to leave the stage even before five seconds of their auditions.
“If your friends told you that you were a good singer, hate them all.” Judge Kasaija told one guy who said he was a singer but could not even prove himself for one minute.
The girl who impressed the judges was a one Latifa who came up with a traditional dance to Chris Brown’s song Yeah 3x.
Sunday’s episode will also feature contestants from Kampala.
