Emin Pasha was the home of Qwela and they are back after a one year haitus. The band will perform at the hotel every Friday.
Qwela last Friday returned to Emin Pasha Hotel, breathing life into the night that had become a bit quiet at the hotel.
It is a night you would want to be part of especially if you would like to listen to the band’s original songs and renditions.
It was a particularly a good experience for the band who had taken a hiatus from performing at the hotel for more than a year as the band leader, Joe Kahirimbanyi told us.
“It is good to be back. We built so many good memories here. We know the staff and had a regular crowd here and we are almost a family. It was nice seeing our old fans come back. It was very nostalgic,” Kahirimbanyi said.
On bass guitar was Emma Mutebi who stepped in the shoes of Sam Bisaso who is in Paris playing with Joel Sebunjo, he of the kora fame.
Then there was Ian Busingye on the acoustic guiate, Maureen Rutabingwa alias Moroots on the saxophone, Emmanuel Dragu on trumpet, Festo Mugume on the keyboard, Rico Del Monte on the percussion and Roy Kisika on the drums.
