Since 1988, Ugandans in the Diaspora have always got a reason to feel at home. With the UNAA causes, an annual three day festival introduced, different entertainers in Uganda from artistes to comedians have been performing at the event where all Ugandans in the Diaspora meet and greet.

This year’s festival, which is also the 28th edition, will take place on September 2 - 4 in Los Angeles at the JW Marriott and performances will be headlined by Singer Sheebah Karungi, Navio Kigozi and David Lutalo. At the event, Africa’s Top Model Aamito Lagum, who is currently based in New York, will host a fashion show where different Diaspora designers will showcase their outfits. Sheila Gashumba and Robin Kisti will also host the Black Tie cocktail events during one of the days.

According to organisers, the festival is the biggest Ugandan gathering in the diaspora, and it brings together Ugandans now living in North America and create a platform on which they can network, share, and experience Ugandan culture.

This will be Sheebah’s second time to perform at the festival, after last year alongside King Saha and Haruna Mubiru.

The Festival team has also engaged the reigning beauty queens in Africa as one of the Faces of “Africa is the future “campaign to help in marketing their respective brands (countries) to the American public.
They Include; Current Miss Uganda, Zahara Mohammed Nakiyaga, Miss Kenya, Charity Njeri Mwangi, Miss Tanzania Universe ,Lorraine Marriott, Miss Rwanda 2016, Jolly Mutesi and Miss Ethiopia World Kisanet Teklehaimanot.

The UNAA Causes gatherings are the largest, most persistent and the most anticipated association of Ugandans in the diaspora. The goals are to stimulate and encourage nationwide acquaintance and fellowship among members in North America, Europe and Uganda. The mission is to bring together Ugandans now living in North America and create a platform on which they can network, share, and experience Ugandan culture and the abundant opportunities of their new homes abroad.
