The interview dress code

Suits are the best pick for an interview.

What you need to know:

lot to do with how you approach the questions, however, your dress code often sets the pace for how you will perform, writes Gloria Haguma.

Now, the thing about job interviews is that the first impression is always key. This means, you need to put power dressing in use.

Whichever way you look at it, your number one option lies in a suit.

So with a few guidelines, let me show you how to pull off your suit without looking like you are trying too hard.

Choose the right shade
Even when it seems so obvious that you should go for black, or grey, it’s not just any grey that will do. For instance, you cannot wear the shiny black which would be ideal for a wedding to an interview.

Mid-grey and charcoal are better options, and have an element of versatility to them. Alternatively, go for a navy suit. Good enough to show that you have command of what your dressing options are.

Finishing touches
This is where the accessories come in. The pocket square, tie clip, printed tie, or even pair of brown brogues are some of the many options that you can choose from. Try not to match your pocket square to the tie. That stuff is way too ancient.

Keep it sleek
Go for a good suit that flatters your physique, and comes off well-polished in the end. Grey would be a good option. It’s far from the ordinary black, and still doesn’t come off too loud.

Add a coloured tie to this, and then finish it off with a tie clip, for a finishing touch.
