Beauty queens in green drive

During the Miss Tourism pageants that are held every year, beauty queens are always asked by the judges what they will do when they become Miss Tourism. Most of them say they want to leave a legacy behind, some say they will promote tourism in Uganda and the regions they represent among other things.
When Ronah Kisakye became the 1st runner up of Miss Tourism Busoga in 2015, she said she would leave a legacy and make sure she promotes tourism in Busoga. To stay true to her pledge, Kisakye accompanied by 2nd runner up Miss Tourism Karamoja, 2nd runner up Miss Tourism Busoga, 2nd runner up Miss Tourism Buganda and Miss Bax Life Velvet were at Iganga Secondary School in Iganga.
The girls were there to launch their Busoga Goes Green campaign spearheaded by Kisakye. While at Iganga Senior Secondary School, the team planted six trees in the school compound and 18 other trees were donated to the school’s environment club. Before planting the trees, the beauty queens sensitised the students on environmental conservation and the need to conserve Eco-tourism.
The campaign will cover two schools in each district of Busoga region; among the districts that will be visited are Mayuge, Kamuli, Bugiri, Jinja and Buyende. The initiative was supported and funded by Busoga Kingdom.
