In Summary

It is that time of the year when parties abound. If you plan on going for them, here is a guide on what to wear.

I will try not to sound too eager, but then again, if you are an employee like me it is hard not to be. The season for Christmas party, office party, end of year party, whatever your company prefers to call that shin dig thrown around this time, is here.

Now besides hassling your friends for invites to their own office parties so you can attend more than one, there is a more urgent issue, picking what to wear. That is assuming your company is not issuing branded shirts which they require everyone attending the party to wear.

The best place to start would be knowing the venue and time of day said party is going to take place. An office party at the beach will need different outfits from one held at the office grounds or one of the hotel ballrooms.

For outdoor days, casual dresses and flowery summer dresses are perfect for the ladies. You can wear jeans if you are still not bored of wearing them every casual Friday. Couple them with a simple top and you are good to go. Shorts can work for this as long as they remain decent enough. You do not want your colleague with whom you have a project to keep remembering your smooth thighs as you try to draw up the budget. Leggings seem to be the evil we can’t escape nowadays. I would think they would be okay as long as you couple them with a top that covers your bottom.

The men can pull out all those shorts they couldn’t find an excuse to wear for the outdoor party, and wear them with a nice T-shirt and, a pair of sandals.

If your company has gone to the trouble of getting a snazzy venue, then there is no question about it, you have to dress up. You can probably have a lower neckline, and play around with the accessories.

However. this is not the occasion to push fashion limit or try out trends. Cocktail dresses, some fancy tops coupled with pants and heels are simply a must. They don’t have to be that high though, remember you may have to dance. The boys can put on their dress shirts and pants maybe this time skip the tie, or khakis with a nice button down.
