In Summary
Valentine’s Day is here once again, the day when we spoil our loved ones with gifts and lots of love. For the lucky ones, a date night may be awaiting them on the D-day. And this means dressing to your best.
Traditionally, black and red have been the official Valentine’s Day colours, and every fashion conscious person dresses up in those two colours on the day, others even wear it to work.
However, you do not have to simply pick up any red attire and don it just because you are trying to be in style for the day. One can dress in the traditional red and black, but still make it eye-catching by using various styling and fashion techniques.
Accessorise
Make use of the various accessories and hair décor to create a lasting impression with your look. In this case, you can stick to a monotonous manner for the clothes and then use the other colour in the accessories, for instance, you can wear a red dress and accessorise with a black waist belt or fascinator to complete the look. Other accessories one can use can be the jewellery, scarfs, clutches, brooches and shoes.
Keep it simple
Santa Anzo, a fashion designer, says, though many people in Uganda celebrate Valentine’s Day, it is not a public holiday. And this means that many people will have to be working. “It would be out of place for one to show up at work in the black and red Valentine attire on Valentine’s Day. So one can still keep up with the tradition but using the different fashion trends to spice up their look,” she says. She recommends that one can, for instance, wear their black attire and add a little dash of red to complete their look. “There are a number of accessories that one can use ranging from shoes to bags and so many others. This way one will be able to be smart for work and even still have their attire on for the evening, for those that hope to go out and celebrate the day,” she says.
She also points out that red is the colour of love, so one can also blend their red with other colours and still be in style for Valentine’s Day. “Since red is the colour of love, one can choose to wear other colours like blue and add a dash of red,” she adds.
Be unique
Spice up your attire by making use of the different designs and patterns from the latest fashion trends. For instance, one can choose a shirt with frills, or embodied skirts, bubble dresses and so many others. Alternatively, one can wear their black and white attire with some patterns to create a beautiful and lasting look. The other designs to choose from are the checked clothes, polka dots
One can also choose unique shades of the red colour, and still look stunning on the day. There are a number of red shades to choose from depending on your choice, and these include ruby, scarlet, amaranth, chestnut and so many others.
