In case you have not noticed, Uganda jerseys are the latest fashion accessory in the town.

Often, they are the official dress code on the day the national team, the Uganda Cranes plays a game with another country. But today the jersey is also put even when there are matches.

Just go to downtown Kampala, especially in Owino Market, the arcades, Kisekka or Kikuubo. Your eyes are most likely to spot someone putting on that beautiful Cranes’ jersey in either all national colours, or at least, one of them.

Some people prefer wearing them when posing for photographs, or attending rugby matches, going to work on a weekend or even when they are travelling out of the country.

Let’s not forget, musicians are part of this group too. A good example is when the musical duo Good Lyfe crew comprising Mowzey and Weasel who donned their long sleeved Ugandan jerseys while performing at the Big Brother Africa 6 stage last year.

And then, just recently in August during the KFM concert, Mad Traxx, a renowned Kenyan dancehall artiste showed solidarity when he performed on stage while wearing a Uganda Cranes jersey with Kiprotich printed at the back.

For love of country
The fact, however remains that they are mostly worn during football matches. Just a few days ago to the match that took place between the Uganda Cranes and Zambia’s Chipolopolo, many Ugandans were seen buying them.

The jerseys commonly known as “Crane jerseys” come mostly in colours of yellow, black, red and white. They are made out of mostly silk material and are either short or long sleeved. Depending on taste, one can have their name printed on or not.

Their prices mostly range between Shs15,000 and Shs50,000, depending on where you buy it from.

The next time you therefore want to rock that patriotic look regardless of whether you are going to watch a football match or not, simply put on a Uganda Cranes Jersey. The look will definitely make you stand out from the crowd.
