What you need to know:

The Uganda National Cultural Centre last Sunday launched a cultural gala aimed at providing entertainment that will include music, drama, dance, poetry, cultural cuisines, visual art and fashion exhibitions

It could barely be called a national venue due to previous administration loopholes but after government intervened and ushered in a new administration, Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) has at least seen some change in how they conduct their cultural activities.

Since the appointment of Francis Peter Ojede as the new executive director, the centre that was priviously known as National Theatre, has been conducting cultural activities, attracted sponsorship for their events and also given art personalities an opportunity to showcase their talent at the theatre.
Early this year, the centre highlighted the general public about its projects and their progress was witnessed last Sunday when they launched the cultural gala that will run every Sunday in the theatre gardens. Entrance is free, at least for now.
Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, who was the guest of honour during the launch of the cultural gala, acknowledged the initiative as a bridge for the different indigenous languages belonging to different distinct linguistic groups.
The invited guests at the launch were treated to entertainment from Mzizi Ensemble, Suzan Kerunen, Myko Ouma, art exhibition from Nommo Gallery and fashion, showcasing.
