Accept a breakup and refuse to be an annoying ex

What you need to know:

“Not ready to move on, I went on a rampage, calling her every second, texting her all the time, leaving all kinds of messages with her friends, and even her brother.”

Though it might be hard to believe, there are some people who have not dated anyone in this day and age. Well, the positive side is that they have not had to deal with an annoying ex. No, not all of them are annoying, some are quite calm and you even get fond of them because of how mature they are about a breakup. Then there are those who do not want to face the fact that it is over and move on peacefully. If you are this kind of person, you are an annoying ex and you need to change your ways.

Well, they say you need to fight for what you love and I suppose this involves trying to get an ex back, but believe me if the ex does not want to rekindle the relationship, it can be irritating.

I have a personal experience. There is this one woman I do not think I will ever be over, even after I am married and old with gray hair. She was a wonderful woman and I tried to be a wonderful man to her.

However, we have no control over some things such as nature and it was not long before we both realised that we were not really compatible. She wanted different things, her being more mature and grounded than I was then.
One day, we found ourselves having that conversation, her telling me that it was not working and she wanted to move on. She was right then, and years later, I still know she was right. But I was not ready to lose such a great woman.

I sincerely believed I could change, and I told her so. She said she did not think so, and insisted that it was best for us to give it a break. Not ready to move on, I went on a rampage, calling her every second, texting her all the time, leaving all kinds of messages with her friends, and even her brother. It got to a pint that I went to her workplace, but she refused to come and see me at the reception, so I had to leave. Thinking about it now, I was just bordering on stalking, because I once waited for her outside her workplace and as she came out, I followed her begging for just five minutes to talk.

She gave me the five minutes but I had nothing new to tell her. It took me about six months to finally get over her. I must give her credit because during that time, she was never rude or hostile towards me.

She would firmly tell me to let it go, and when I became persistent, she just ignored me. Two years later, I met a friend of hers who told me how annoying I had been.
“If I had been Tracy, I would have left the country just to be away from you,” she said. Which made me realise the kind of woman I had lost.
