He fought wife, her ex-lover at friend’s wedding

What you need to know:

  • And I would have written off the whole thing as simply an unfortunate incident, if I had not later learned that the woman had eventually left with the ex, after her husband drove off angrily.

There was drama at a wedding yesterday, a fight to be more accurate. I hear these things happen elsewhere; I had never got a chance to actually witness a fight at a wedding. The closest I had come to seeing one was a small scuffle where someone had taken advantage of the free flowing alcohol and had to be forcefully evicted for being a nuisance, but not without putting up a struggle to stay. He did not want to leave, and it was perfectly understandable, considering that the alcohol was still freely flowing. I imagine to him, it was like walking away from paradise itself.

This time though, the case was different. It was someone I know, not some stranger. And it was an actual fight between two people, over a third person. It was unfortunate that the wedding had to be paused for these three selfish people’s interests. Although, the girl claims it was not her fault, that all she did was attend a friend’s wedding. That her ex-boyfriend would be there too, that was a high possibility, but one she claims she had not planned for.
She was sitting next to this ex when her husband walked in, and a few minutes later, walked out literally dragging her out by the hand. He clearly was not amused, but at least he chose to go resolve his issues from outside. And then to my surprise, I saw the ex-boyfriend also get up and quickly follow the two like he had a claim on the woman, or even a stake in the relationship. Some people can be daring.

The way that husband had dragged that woman out, I would not want to cross him for a few days. But clearly Mr Ex was not moved, because less than five minutes later, there was a loud crash outside, and the sound of people screaming and throwing things. A fight had started. It was not difficult to guess who was fighting.
So, that is how the wedding got paused, even as much as the MC tried to keep our attention on the now baffled newly-weds, everyone wanted to know what was going on outside.
You know how nosy people get.
Apparently, the woman’s husband is a very jealous man. And apparently, he had told her several times to stay away from that man, but she claimed they were just friends, who also happened to be ex-lovers. He had even told Mr Ex to stay away from his wife, but that too, had not yielded much results. They were inseparable, it seems.

So that particular day, the man had been informed by a friend of his that his wife was in fact spending the day with her ex, under the pretext of attending the wedding. Husband had not been able to attend this wedding because of too much work. He had no problem with his wife going alone, though I wonder if he had counted on her ex being there. Possibly, the two cheating lovebirds had used this rare occasion to attend the wedding as man and wife. And that, he could not take.
So, he had called his wife, but she had not answered. Even the texts went unanswered. Not able to control his fury any longer, with his concentration blown to bits, he had driven over and walking straight to where she was seated, had told her he needed to talk to her, outside, like mature civilised folk. And then the ex followed, for some inexplicable reason, as if not aware that this was not the time and place for them to settle their differences. What actually triggered the fight, no one really knows, but they soon started tearing at each other.

It was a few minutes before other people intervened but by that time, half the people attending the wedding were outside, and the other half still inside was all looking behind. Thankfully, the MC was a skilled navigator, he quickly refocused most of us back to the proceedings of the day without much damage.
And I would have written off the whole thing as simply an unfortunate incident, if I had not later learned that the woman had eventually left with the ex, after her husband drove off angrily. And, this was not the first time these three were clashing in public! What is wrong with people?
