Leave today’s woman alone

What you need to know:

This beef about today’s woman, is it the woman or the society around her that should keep up? The men have their say.

The seeming constant thirst for confrontation with society. It looks like the modern woman still feels like fighting, even when society has in many ways bent over backwards to give her her rights. Many times, slights are seen in situations that are not even remotely meant to be negative. Society then finds itself walking on egg shells just so the precious women are not angered.

Leave today’s woman alone. There is nothing wrong with her. Nothing completely. There is just something wrong with those of us who think there is something wrong with today’s woman. And that something wrong is the failure to appreciate the motion state of the world.

That a woman in the 1920s had the kitchen as her family job description, today she is a CEO, MD and what not, just as a man is. Certainly the submissive aspect of the 1920s woman and today’s Jennifer Musisi can’t be the same. You say they are indecent and morally wanting? And that means there is something wrong? I say no. The 1900 appreciation of morals and decence at that, is not how Straka or Iryn Namubiru sees it in 2014.

A mini skirt to them is not indecent. And there is nothing wrong with that. Women are only progressive and moving with the tide of the world. In whatever way you want to look at it. Even the so called being money minded! It is not them being money minded, the economy of today is just too money minded for any human not to be money minded. Ok, ladies, get the minis, on and let’s go party the whole night this Saturday. There is nothing wrong with that. Leisure has only evolved!

Today’s woman as a person.. no, nothing wrong with her, she is even better. As a concept, everything has gone to the dogs. She is hollow, she lacks content and depth. Like beauty, her femininity is only skin deep.

For some of us who seek to find that elusive “inner beauty”, it is increasingly becoming a futile search, forcing us to compromise for factory mass produced women, in contrast to the detailed, home grown lady with class, beauty, independence and confidence to enhance her femininity, not for fighting for power.

The pro-feminists are not telling today’s woman the whole story. There is evidently a distorted understanding of this empowerment. For example, the women who are ambitiously conquering every last square inch of the world think they are too good for nearly any man out there.

They apparently “deserve better”! Essentially what they are attempting to be is a “strong woman”. This strong woman is what feminism considers as an improved woman… better than her weak and old fashioned counterparts. This strong woman is admired because she hasn’t given in to what society expects of her! It doesn’t matter if she is really just angry, lonely and miserable.

She is the epitome of the strong woman today and this gives her the exact self-esteem these movements preach. She is what her mother thought she wanted to be, but couldn’t- and in the process, she has become the son her father never had.
It is generational and quite complicated.

I love today’s woman. I don’t even think she has a problem. She has had to adjust to life as it is today and the demands of a patriarchal society that is determined to keep her down. And in cases where you have an adversary as strong as customs and tradition, you are bound to make mistakes or even go to extremes just to be heard and understood. So, for me, no problem with today’s woman.
