It is fine to be the only single man among friends

A group of men. Having married friends when you are single can be confusing and before you call yourself unlucky.

What you need to know:

Enjoy being single so that when you finally walk down the isle, you will not feel like you rushed into anything.

Being single among a bunch of married friends can be stressful. First you feel unaccomplished and you judge yourself for not being aggressive enough to find love. When they are having marriage-related conversations, you play mute as though they are speaking French. Sometimes you hate being in their company because they remind you of what you do not have.

On the other hand, you might blame them for keeping you in the single’s pool. Every time your married friends fight with their spouses because they forgot the wedding anniversary and they camp at your apartment because they had a fight and need a day or two to calm the storm, you postpone your plans of tying the knot. “Is being single better than being married?” you wonder. “Should I get married or wait?” such questions flood your mind and almost drive you insane.

It is so unfair when your married friends start praising you for being single. Yes, many married friends will once in a while say, “ You are lucky you can still enjoy your space” or “ I envy your freedom, you can party until morning and no one will harass you.” These friends only drive you deeper on a journey of singlehood. A person who was thinking of proposing to your girlfriend of three years finds a reason not to do so, at least not yet.

Having married friends when you are single can be confusing and before you call yourself unlucky, maybe it is time to celebrate your freedom and learn a few lessons from your married friends who keep whining about the choices they made.

Enjoy singlehood so that when you finally find that special person that you want to spend the rest of your life with, you will be ready to trade your freedom for love and companionship.

Enjoy being single as much as you can so that when you finally walk down the isle, you will not feel like you rushed into anything. Getting married because all your friends are married is not a good reason.

Relax and get married only when you feel like you have met the right woman. So, do not hang yourself because you are single and neither should you curse your ancestors for not making you so ‘lucky’. In due time, you will cross the bridge and you will also be married but as for now, raise your head high and celebrate your current status.

“Enjoy being single so that when you finally walk down the isle, you will not feel like you rushed into anything.”
