Singing to support charity

Apostle Henry Kisakye and the wife Sharon from Labour for Christ Ministries in Kansanga follow the performance during the charity campaign launch at Hotel Sojovalo.

Gospel Artiste Brown San, whose real name is Stephen Kwagala, is well-known for doing music for charity. Last Sunday, the 27-year-old launched a charity campaign known as For Life charity Campaign at Hotel Sojovalo in Rubaga.

With no radio or television adverts, the show that was organised in only two weeks had the hall filled by supporters that parted with Shs 20,000 for entrance.

The show kicked off at 4pm with gospel singers who had come to support the cause. These included Amooti the beast, D’angelo Busulwa, Levixone and Styles.

For less than one hour, Brown San performed some of his songs like Mama, Praise God, obulamu lugendo, and forgive. “I fell sick at the time when I had just started organising the show, I only had two weeks of planning but I’m glad you made it in big numbers,” Brown San said while on his knees to appreciate the guests for turning up.

Why the concert?
The aim of the concert was to launch a campaign which will start running early next year. It targets schools and sensitisation on why charity is vital in our society. He announced that the project will need three acres of land to build premises where the charity project will be run.

As a form of fundraising, he put his new album CD titled Child of Africa up for sale. Different individuals bought the CDs at different prices ranging between Shs50,000 and Shs500,000.

Brown San said the next Charity event will be held at Kampala Serena Hotel early next year.
