Asian Fusion restaurant at Fairway Hotel is an inviting choice with its finger-licking dishes, of Chinese and Indian cooking.

As you place your order at this dimly lit restaurant the chefs are within sight as they go about preparing dishes to be served to guests who include mostly Asians and a few locals.

The restaurant, formerly known as Spice Route, serves spicy authentic Indian and Chinese cuisine which diners can enjoy on the outdoor terrace in the garden, plus an open-air bar.

The décor here reflects on the name with magnificent monuments, giving you an idea that this is indeed an Asian corner. The tables are nicely laid with cloths and napkins and within the restaurants are trees which are beautified at night with glowing lights.

As you take this in, someone welcomes you with a smile before a waiter or waitress shows you to a seat, gives you a few minutes and then returns to take your order. There is soft piped music playing as you enjoy your meal and drinks. You can go with spending money of about Shs50,000 if you are a couple, to cater for drinks and dinner.

Apart from the coloured lights in the tree there are candles on every tree, adding some charm to the dining experience.

I enjoyed the garlic naan but you might want to try the butter naan which is served with among other sauces, chicken tikka masala, which is made from roasted chicken chunks (tikka) in a spicy (masala) sauce. The heavily spiced dish will get you yearning for a drink, so have some water or wine handy. There is also nyama choma and tandoori dharbar barbeque for your tasting pleasure, which the hotel’s General Manager, Harrison Njoroge says is marinated for at least 48 hours.

You will find Fairway Hotel along Yusuf Lule, some ten minutes’ walk from two major malls, including Garden City mall and Oasis Mall.

Side attractions
There is also a place that’s exclusively for those who would like to enjoy a private moment. It’s the Ice Lounge, which is open from 3pm till late. The light is different here, with blue and red, lighting through artistically arched glass. But if you prefer to relax in the open there is a poolside bar which also serves barbeque on weekends.
