Remember the famous pictures of Chris Mubiru in Red Pepper? Quite mouth gaping weren’t they? Now imagine if Mubiru were a Muslim! The poor chap would already be six feet under with his soul having a chat with the Almighty. And that wouldn’t be the end of his ordeal.

His property, the brother’s and his pet dog would also be ashes. Yes, that is how you never mess with our Muslim friends. Even a cartoon about the Prophet Muhammad published by a newspaper will have its managing editor heading for the nearest fox-hole running for his dear life with all kinds of declarations by Sheikhs asking their followers to finish him!

Now the world we live in has (through all forms of outlets; media and websites) packaged such behaviour as ridiculous, beastly, inhuman and in need of (at the very worst) eradication. These outlets have convinced us that our Muslim friends are nutters of sorts with such “behaviour.”

Now do you know why we Christians are facing all kinds of madness and having among us the likes of having gay bishops, fornication episodes during prayer conventions, broken marriages, having saved wives cheating on their hubbies and vice versa, pastors profiting from prayers for the sick and needy…the list is endless!

Do you know why we are facing such issues? It’s simply because we lack passion for our religion. Religion as an entity is faith-based. You believe without needing to ask for proof. You believe that Noah’s Ark existed despite having no proof for its existence. You believe the story of Jonah in the Old Testament who was swallowed by a Whale and survived intact without resorting to your common-sense to check such a story.

You believe the close to unbelievable. Now for such belief to succeed and requires discipline but most importantly passion. You need the passion to defend what you believe in even-if the world around you thinks you are nuts. You need the passion to spread that faith despite the odds you face.

I’m no “savedee” but I’m a staunch believer in God and a Christian. But my fellow Christians, the world as far as our religion is concerned is finished. How can a Priest abuse close to 100 young boys for decades but keep praying for people in God’s house?

We have no remorse, have no shame, full of hypocrisy, live a very superficial life and above all do not exactly believe in what we prophesy in.

Without sounding like Pastor Ssempa, according to Christianity, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. So tell me how you “fear” God if you constantly cheat on your spouse?

Tell me how you fear God if you allow the diluting of the word of God to accommodate today’s lifestyles?

Yes, passion can go close to madness noticed with the likes of Bin Laden. And that is not helpful in the context of civility and spreading your religion to other parties. Such madness disguised as passion has no place in any religion.

But my Christian friends, like Muslims, we need our passion back. We need to guard that passion jealously. Without that passion don’t get surprised in the next decade when your daughter Anita introduces her husband called…Rachael!
