After a spirited performance in London and Dubai production outfit ‘The Ebonies’ will for this weekend only, stage their drama titled Ensabattula. Playwright JWK Ssembajwe says there will only be two shows.
The two shows are on tomorrow and Sunday at 7pm. Entrance is Shs25,000. The guest of honour will be Owekitibwa Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda Kingdom.
Ensabattula is a musical drama about different issues in society, from love, betrayal, moral decadence and intrigue. The Ebonies will be sharing the stage with artistes Bobi Wine, Ragga Dee, Catherine Kusasira and Faridah Walden, who will be acting and performing during the drama.
The playwright says: “Ensabattula was intelligently crafted, seriously rehearsed and fused well between live band music dance and drama, specifically for the fans of the Ebonies in London and Dubai, and now Ugandan theatre goers will be enjoying the same set and production.”
The Ebonies performed Ensabattula at the Royal Regency Hall at Manor Park in London on the September 28.
“The Ebonies last performed in London in 1990 and as such, their return was not only a highly anticipated one, but also went down as historic and memorable,” The Ebonies’ publicist Sam Bagenda alias Dr. Bbosa’ said. They also held a show at Chi @ The Lodge in Dubai on October 5.
