  • This allows toxins to be absorbed by the oil and eliminated by the body consequently enhancing the liver’s functionality.

Alarming numbers of people die daily due to infections related to the liver and other related illnesses caused by high level of toxins in our body.
Some of the probable causes of intoxication include; taking multiple medicines for a long time, contaminants in our food and water, junk food, stress, smoke, vehicle emissions, airborne fungal spores, pesticides and pollution, among others.
But with the right practices and foods one can detoxify and increase liver functionality and prolong their life span.
Ronald Kateregga, a nutritionist at Action against Hunger, Kiryandoggo, says to detoxify the body, one needs to incorporate good health practices with eating the right foods.
“People should eat fruits, they are high in liquid-content, easy to digest and help the body wash out toxins. Green foods such as blue green algae, barley, wheatgrass, kale, spinach, alfalfa, chard, arugula, and other organic leafy greens give the digestive tract a detoxifying boost of chlorophyll making them essential in one’s meal,” he says.

He adds: “Citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, and limes aid the body by flushing out toxins. To increase detoxification, start each morning with a warm glass of lemon water. Other foods such as broccoli sprouts, green tea, mung beans, and garlic stimulate the liver into producing detoxification enzymes that filter toxic residues from the digestive system.”
Raw vegetables, whether juiced or eaten raw, onions, carrots, artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, kale, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, garlic, beet, turmeric, and oregano provide a great foundation for a healthy diet. They are also high in naturally occurring sulfur and glutathione, sulfur helps the liver detoxify harmful chemicals.
Kateregga cautions: “While seeds and nuts such as walnuts, flax seed, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, hemp seeds, sesame, chia, siberian cedar nuts, and sunflower seeds are all excellent options, nut butter with added sugar should be avoided while detoxing.”

Omega-3 Oils are very effective in lubricating the intestinal walls; one can use hemp, avocado, olive, or flaxseed oil. This allows toxins to be absorbed by the oil and eliminated by the body consequently enhancing the liver’s functionality.
“Exercise is one of the best ways for the body to get rid of toxins. They are emitted through sweat, creating a routine for one’s bowel per se visiting the toilet in the morning after waking up and before sleeping at night boosts the bowel process, over time the body adjusts to the routine,” Kateregga says.
He also recommends performing a full body cleanse at least twice a year and following it with a body cleanse diet.
