The tour involves a challenge where participants work on their art pieces and present them to the judges, who then select the finest pieces. The criterion for the winners is based on the process of how they make their art pieces.

Expressions Africa group and Peacock paints, since September, have been conducting school tours in search of talent and giving a voice to many learners who have involved themselves in art.

They have toured more than 20 schools, including International School of Uganda, Montessori Pre-School, Green Hill Academy, Ambrosoli International, Bishop Cyprian Kihangire S.S.S Luzira, Bannunule School of Orphans, and Ebenezer Nursery and Primary School, among others. The project aims at giving young talent a chance to develop and showcase their creative skills to the public.

Ibrahim Muwanga, a coordinator, says: “If we give young people a chance, we build a better future for them, but this needs to be done under joint effort.”

“The art piece is not the most important as the judges select the winners. The process of making the art work is considered most important since it exhibits talent and skills of the artists,” Muwanga says.

At the end of the tour, winners will be given chance to showcase their art works at MacKinnon suites on December 1 to December 2. They will also be awarded prizes for their good presentation.
