Kampala born Atigo seeks re-elction as UNAA president

Mr Monday Atigo, who has been Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) President for the last two years (2015-2017), is contesting for a second term as president of the association.
The UNAA elections will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017 during the 29th Annual UNAA Convention and Trade Expo, which will take place from September 1 to September 3, 2017 in Miami FL.
Atigio is a resident of Dalas, Texas.
Atigo, 35, who has been UNAA President since 2015, is seeking another two years in office. UNAA holds elections for office bearers every 2 years.

Atigo says he has achieved a lot in his first term in office and wants to do more for the betterment of the association.
“Once elected into office for a second term, I pledge to ensure financial accountability, to build coherent communities and to empower the Diaspora and youth,” Atigo said.
During his 2015-2017 terms, Atigo put his emphasis on re-uniting UNAA by reaching out to estranged members of the association to ensure they return and serve together for the betterment of all members.

He will be contesting against Dr Daniel Busuulwa Kawuma, a practicing Pharmacist in the United States.
Background
Before he became president, Atigo was the UNAA Vice President from 2013-2015.
He also served as the leader of the Mobilization & Outreach Committee for the hugely successful 25th Annual UNAA Convention – Dallas 2013 and served as Secretary of the UNAA Electoral Commission of 2011.

He was previously the President & Treasurer of the Ugandan American Association of Greater Dallas Fort Worth (UAA-DFW).
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Atigo is self-employed and previously served as the Guest Services Manager at the then newly opened Omni Fort Worth Hotel Downtown.
He has also served as the Assistant Front Office Manager, and Guest Services Manager at the Omni Austin Downtown Hotel, Austin Texas.

Born in Kampala, Uganda; Mr Atigo is a graduate of Kibuli Secondary School. He attended Makerere University Kampala (MUK) in 2000, before moving to the United States on an Athletic Soccer Scholarship at Alabama A&M University in 2002.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix and attended the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio Texas on a Soccer Scholarship where he earned his Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) in 2006.
