NTV among top 10 super brands

NTV MD Aggie Asiimwe Konde

NTV was voted one of the top ten super brands in Uganda for the 2015/16 period. Aggie Asiimwe Konde, the managing director of the TV station, tells us what this recognition means for the station. Excerpts
NTV was identified as one of the Top 10 Superbrands in Uganda for 2015/16, for the first time. Did it come as a surprise?
We were delighted to have been recognised as one of the strongest brand in the region thereby achieving the status of Superbrand East Africa 2015/16.
The accolade is a pleasant addition our awards and goes a long way to reaffirm to our audiences the brand health of quality, trusted source of information, signal reliability and undisputed audience preference.
What does the accolade say about NTV?
From inception NTV has worked to set precedent and shape the Ugandan media industry and landscape. We benchmark and measure our efforts based on international standards. We are a learning organisation and invest meticulously in innovation, research and development. We are proud to receive this award as a Superbrand as it is a reflection of our hard work and persistence as a market leader. The accolade further reaffirms that NTV is the undisputed TV leader in this market.
Tell us what it has taken to build the NTV brand to attract this kind of recognition?
There have been three catalysts that make us who we are..
• Our People: - Our products change every single day and having the ability to be the first and fast to the market on issues that matter to our viewers is no mean feat. As a young station my teams take first place on this issue and thank you Uganda for recognizing their efforts.
•Our viewers:- As an infotainment brand that prides itself on being the most trusted brand in television our governing principle is offering a platform to the disenfranchised with balanced information that will improve the quality of our viewers while entertaining them at the same time.
•Innovation / Technology: - We are local but global and this is aimed at telling the truly Ugandan stories with the aim of offering convenience and immediacy of information. As a learning organisation, we also pride in trying out new things and ways of telling our stories and this has resonated very well with our viewers.
How do you plan to keep the NTV brand shinning?
We are who we are because of our viewers. We cannot underscore the support and feedback that our viewers give us. We urge you to keep the feedback coming because this is what makes us stronger and better.
Any last words?
I would like to call upon Ugandans to seek better and more meaningful ways that can make us more competitive in the region. As a youthful economy there are many opportunities to exploit, the challenge is how are our youth using technological mediums to improve their skill sets? We seek to work with the youth to improve their preparedness through technology, production in the areas of arts and culture, patriotism through proactive citizenry and entrepreneurship opportunities. Join in the “I Move Uganda” conversations and lead the change you desire to see.
