The new Range Rover Sport is out, although not here yet, I just had to let you know. But that is news for some other day, especially when it does get here finally. The news is that there is a new baby in the Land Rover family and that is the Range Rover Evoque.

Fans of the Sport and Vogue or bigger machines like the Disco will be disappointed. See, this is not the segment for the big players but rather a crossover much like the Nissan Murano size if you want. It is appealing to yuppies mainly and not over 45 or 50 year old execs and politicians.
It is a car for flashy people and still those who can afford that kind of swag if I may add. If you think it is expensive at $125,000 (Shs312m), someone has already got one for themselves. I actually saw it last week (first saw it out before seeing one in the showroom).

The Evoque comes in five door form and offers breathtaking contemporary kinetic design with added practicality, superb accessibility and extraordinary versatility. Bold and compact, the Evoque uses the latest materials and technology to help make it the most efficient Land Rover vehicle ever. There is even an eD4 2WD Diesel engine to further help optimise fuel economy.

Range Rover Evoque also gives you the opportunity to create precisely the vehicle you want with an extensive selection of exciting colours, materials, finishes and luxury options, all based on three stunning, totally individual design themes:

Pure - the purest expression of the Range Rover Evoque design form and intent. Prestige - the ultimate in Range Rover Evoque luxury with a distinct exterior design and an opportunity for greater individuality for the interior.

Dynamic - the boldest expression of Range Rover Evoque with sports interior themes and Gloss Black detailing.

Exterior features
Range Rover Evoque’s advanced lighting technology achieves outstanding performance as well as providing some of the vehicle’s most striking signature design elements. The innovative LED lighting systems are used to create the unique graphics of the front daytime running lights and complex 3D ‘petal’ design in the rear lamps.

The striking exterior design conveys an immediate sense of luxury with its precision build quality and the use of eye-catching metallic finishers or sophisticated details such as the vents on the bonnet and at the side of the vehicle.

Comfort Features
The luxury in Range Rover Evoque also extends to the rear accommodation which provides excellent passenger ergonomics and a spacious environment designed for relaxation and long-distance comfort. Range Rover Evoque Coupé also provides a choice between a rear bench seat and more sports-orientated twin seats.

Interior Features
Range Rover Evoque’s interior features a suite of the latest technologies to provide driver and passengers with the most comfortable, most enjoyable experience possible. All driver displays present clear, useful information.

Engine
Introducing the lightest diesel engine ever built by Land Rover, the 2.2-litre 150PS eD4 has been engineered to deliver quieter, more refined performance. It also contributes to Range Rover’s best fuel economy figures and CO2 emissions of sub 130 g/km for the 2WD version.
Choosing the seamless six-speed manual option and or the intelligent Stop/Start technology can reduce fuel consumption still further.

Transmission
Like every Land Rover vehicle, Range Rover Evoque optimises performance and capability in all on and off-road conditions. It does this by employing a suite of innovative technologies including Terrain Response, which adapts Range Rover Evoque’s engine, transmission and electronic systems to maximise drivability, comfort and traction. This is not on the 2WD version.

Safety
Both active and passive safety technologies on Range Rover Evoque are state-of-the-art. The high strength safety cell, airbags and advanced restraint systems provide an exceptional degree of safety for you and your passengers.
The powerful all-disc braking system is complemented by the latest generation of active electronic safety systems, while the advanced traction and stability technology is configured to maximise performance and safety in the widest range of driving conditions.
