DP wins Butambala race, while NRM's 19-year-old candidate wins in Usuk

The Democratic Party candidate, Muwanga Kivumbi, has been declared winner of the Butambala County by-election.Kivumbi polled 14,754 votes against his closest challenger NRM’s Faisal Kikulukunyu who polled 12,792.

Uganda Federal Alliance’s Ibrahim Tomusage polled third with 150 votes while Independent candidate, Shafiq Sentamu come fourth with 124 votes.

Another Independent candidate Farouk Walungama polled 60 votes.

The Butambala County seat fell vacant after Court overturned the election of NRM’s Faisal Kikulukunyu over electoral irregularities.

Nineteen year old NRM candidate Proscovia Alengoit meanwhile is the new Usuk county MP, making her Uganda's youngest legislator ever.
