Hello Paul, which is better between a Ford Escape 2012, Subaru Forester 2009 and Fortuner? Isaac

Hello Isaac, I think the contest is between the two compact sports utility vehicles of the same body and engine size: Ford Escape (2012) and Subaru Forester (2009). You should up the ante and consider the revamped 2013 Ford Escape and Forester which look and feel better. The drab looking 2012 Ford Escape feels more sluggish handling on or off road and has a plastic-like uninviting dashboard.

On the other hand, the 2009 Subaru Forester feels more like a robust all weather toughie on and off road.
The Forester is let down by the outdated interior finishes but that is no big deal since its exterior is sleeker, more aerodynamic and easier to operate in sharp corners and on the highway than the loftier Ford Escape.

Escape offers better trunk cargo volume while Forester provides better passenger legroom.
The Escape’s 2.5 litre petrol engine enjoys slightly better engine horse power (take off) and fuel economy compared with Forester’s 2.5litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. On the other hand, Forester has better torque which comes in handy during maneuvering and tackling tough terrain.

The Forester has better performance with the turbo charged 2.5 litre petrol. On the practical side, the Subaru Forester has better maintainability in terms of availability of spare parts, independent garages and easy non fast moving part locally.
The Subaru has better resale value when it is time to move on.
