What you need to know:

  • I always relax at Birdsnest resort or Arcadia. I return to Kabale Town at 7pm and go out with business colleagues for Kabale night life. I am grateful that most of the people I meet and share contacts with in the hangouts become hotel clients eventually.

Work and fun. Bridget Ayebazibwe is the general manager at White Horse Inn, Kabale District. She oversees the operations, manages all departments and ensures the efficient running of the of the hotel. Eric Ntalumbwa shares how she spends her week.

Monday
I am an early riser. My daily morning rituals comprise of eating a healthy breakfast and prayer. Monday is the busiest day of my week. By 8am, I am at my desk. I check on the sales and emails. At 8.30am, I convene the meeting for department heads. These meetings enable us to focus on our strategic goal of giving our guests a great experience. I also meet the accounts team and store controller to plan for the week’s purchases. I also follow up on bookings with the reservations desk. At 5pm, I play tennis at the hotel court. At 7pm, I have my dinner and head home.

Tuesday
Besides routine work, I drive out for business engagements with corporate companies after lunch. I also go to radio stations to promote the hotel business. At 5pm, I return to play tennis. It is my form of working out and keeping fit. I do this every day.

Wednesday
I take time off to provide support to the front desk, interacting with guests, to make sure that every little detail about bookings and reservations are done.

Thursday
I meet with the department heads to plan for the remaining days of the week. This meeting enables me to understand which department needs extra support and the challenges that departments are facing.

Friday
I concentrate on filing the bills of all suppliers and paying all the creditors. I also check on the reservations desk to confirm groups that will be visiting the hotel during the weekend and progress of banquets.

Saturday
This is the day I do house chores and general cleaning. Once the work is done, I report to work at 10am to monitor the activities of the weekend and make purchases, if any. I later drive to Lake Bunyonyi at 3pm to chill and meet potential business partners.

Sunday
For the sake of business networking, I pray from most of the religious affiliations around town. After the church service , I head to the hotel to check on the progress. I do not rely on reports, I have to be on ground. I drive out to the lake later in the afternoon for fun.
