Get a woman cave

Every woman deserves a place she can call her own. Get a woman cave for me time. NET PHOTO.

What you need to know:

  • Interior. If you are a woman, especially a mother, you realise that everything else seems to take your attention and the cycle is endless- work, children, name it. Get a woman cave for me time, writes Gloria Kawuma.

W e so often hear about the ‘man cave’ but not about the ‘woman cave’. For all the hard work and sacrifices both seen and unknown, I think that every women deserves a sanctuary.
A space in her home she can rightfully and selfishly call her own, filled with items that may not mean much to others, but hold a lot of value to her -the woman cave.

This should be a place where she can retreat from all her responsibilities and be sure not to be disturbed. Most times, this is the bedroom, but even this space is shared with the husband, who takes away the whole ‘my space’ thing.

It really does not have to be a whole room for those who are worried that there is no more space in your house to indulge yourself. It can be a corner screened off with a room divider or curtain or a spot accessorised with personal items or memorabilia.
The ultimate woman cave should;

Be comfortable
In order for one to relax, your space should offer you comfort. A sofa or comfy chairs would help. But like I mentioned before, if your space is small then a pouf or bean bag would do the trick.

Personalise it
Let it be clear to anyone that this is clearly a woman’s space. Have monogrammed throw cushions, cups, your initials or large portrait as your wall art. Having your sacred stash of books and CDs or DVDs housed in a book case makes this space cozier. This is the opportunity to decorate with favourite patterns that you love but may not match the style in your house.

Say it with colours
|Use colours that express your personality and not necessarily those that have been endorsed as appropriate by professionals. All pink ladies, this would be your occasion to glow. Choose colours that make you happy and inspire you. After all it is all about you.

Practical storage
For hobbies and relaxation, give this space a sense of organisation. Do not make it look like a dumpsite for all things. An organised space encourages rest and calm.

A woman’s little space
The woman cave would be the perfect place for every woman to refuel. Women also deserve a place to escape and have some quiet time alone.

Whether it is a place to relax, work, read, craft, sleep or just sit and do nothing, women are creating their own spaces

Create your own little haven at home and spend girl-time in style. Just add colour and paint the room.
