Can a man suffer from candida?

Dr, can a man also get candida? Can he get it in the mouth? I thought candida only affects women’s pivate parts?

Candida is yeast that is usually found on our bodies including the skin, mouth, the big intestines, in the vagina or even on the penis without causing disease. Under certain conditions or diseases including those of reduced immunity, diabetes or overuse of antibiotics, Candida may cause infection in these areas and even spread to other areas including lungs and blood.

Most candida infections are found in the vaginal canal leading to an itchy spoilt milk like discharge, that is why you you think only women suffer from it.

Men and children can get candida infections including of the mouth when conditions are favourable for candida to attack. Most candida infections save the mouth, (oral candidiasis), throat (pharyngeal candidiasis) or of the uncircumcised penis (head and foreskin) are poorly diagnosed because they are not easily recognised but they can occur.
