Sarah Nanangwe, 14, dropped out of school in Primary Three. She is suffering from cancer which is curable according to the medical report but may die if she does not get Shs20m for treatment.

Nanangwe whose dream is to become a medical doctor, is currently staying in Fort Portal with her cousin, Dr James Ngobi Forbes, the head of the Blood bank in Fort Portal.
“I went to my village recently and found the girl and her father in a state of hopelessness. I volunteered to take her to hospital for treatment,” says Dr Ngobi.

He says the first investigations were done at Mengo Hospital and the cost was met by another relative until he could not manage financially. “We live in Fort Portal but we have to often travel to Mulago National Referral Hospital for consultation.

However, I am contemplating taking her back to her father’s home since I cannot afford to pay her medical bills any longer. To help her, I need assistance,” Dr Ngobi says, adding that Nanangwe has a curable type of cancer but needs surgery to remove the growing tumour in her right upper jaw bone.
