My boss keeps our salaries in the toilet, please help

Whenever it is pay day, my boss gets our salary from the bathroom. I have been employed by three different people from my current employer’s country and it seems it is a cultural habit among employers from that particular country. Don’t employees have a right to demand non cash mode of payment? Our boss getting our salaries from the bathroom freaks me out. George

I was taken aback by your question. Does your employer keep a safe in the bathroom? Is the bathroom private or is it used by other people? Its however, understandable to feel uncomfortable when you are paid your wages with cash kept in a bathroom, especially if you associate a bathroom with a dirty place, though some bathrooms can be quite clean.

First of all money, especially paper notes, can be very dirty and full of invisible germs, even when they have been kept in someone’s pocket or a clean safe. So it’s always advisable to wash your hands with soap and water whenever you handle money. Secondly, in this digital cashless age, it becomes foolhardy to keep large sums of cash on the company premises as this tends to attract robbers who even take lives. You are hence advised to politely approach your employer and request for your preferred method of payment and even offer to pay the fees, if that’s what the employer would be avoiding by preferring to pay wages in cash.

As you go about this request, try to advise your employer of the risks he is taking by keeping large amounts of money of the company premises. You can ingeniously contact a cashless transaction service provider like a bank to approach your employer and offer to take up the wages payments and free your employer’s time to focus on growing the business.
