Make it easy. Put your documents in order to ease the process of job hunting.

Searching for a job is no easy task. It requires patience, resilience and intelligence.
According to Juliet Rose Akol, a masters graduate, many people write job applications and drop them at different offices with the hope that they will be called for interviews.
However, she says, many never get that call and it is only for the strong hearted that can afford to through such a process.
Therefore, lets look at what as a jobseeker, you need to do while on the hunt.

Be on the lookout
Akol holds a Masters and one would imagine she cannot fail to get majority of the jobs on the market.
However, she currently has no job and she is always on the lookout for opportunities.
“I am always scouting for available opportunities. I seek enough information about them before I get into the process of applying for them,” she says.

Do not give up
Being turned down, Akol says, is so normal, therefore it should not convince into giving up.
“It is demoralising and de-motivating to be turned down. But that does n0t mean your skills and qualifications are worthless,” she says.
This, she argues, should instead become a rallying factor to prove the naysayers wrong.

Have the right attitude
According to Jennifer Etit Okaka, a human resource and business partner at KCB Bank, you must make finding a job you full time job and this comes with having the right attitude.
“All your thoughts should be focused on how you can find a job. Until you get on, you should not have the comfort to occupy yourself with inanities. Finding a job needs the right attitude and concentration,” she says.

Okaka also emphasise that one must be willing and open enough to start small and grow into something more desirable.
“Many people start small and grow into the job. Your attitude should be able to take on a small job but with a target to grow,” she says.
Do your homework
Job hunting demands some degree of preparation. Therefore, Etit Okaka advises, you must do research on a number of aspects.
“If you are an accountant for example, what have you done in regard to banking or related jobs? Be organized and make enough research about your proffesion and others,” she says.

Network
There is no job that will find you in your job. You have to go out of your way and hunt for it.
However, you can widen your chances through networking especially at corporate and social events such as conferences, among others.
You can also network through joining professional organisations or institutions and social clubs, among others.

Market yourself
Technology, according to Nicholas Nyonyintono, a career couch, has given people a number of options. Therefore, he says, use your social media platforms to show what you can do instead of concentrating on inanities.
“Social media has created linkages. So create an upto date account highlighting your professional details and capabilities,” he says.

Always be ready
It is disappointing and frustrating for a job seeker to be disorganized. You must have a property written CV, proper academic and professional qualifications.
This, according to Nyonyintono makes you an ideal and reliable applicant that an employer can entrust with crucial aspects of the company.
“Customise you documents where possible to match with the job you are applying for. Many people just work on a single CV and send the same to different companies even when they are applying for different jobs,” he says.
Have a target
According to Gilbert Mujinya, a job seeker, having a target will help to give you a sense of direction on what you are looking for.
“For instance, I have identified about seven potential employers and I am making research on them to understand their processes. I follow their social media platforms and social events, where possible because I am targeting them as my possible employers,” he says.

This, Nyonyintono says, is an indication of disorganisation a jobseeker must deal with appropriately.
“A part from your documents, always be ready to do an interview,” he says.
