What you need to know:

  • Cool. Caramel is a rare gem that is well thought out and planned and a wonderful addition to the Kampala dining scene.

Fortune favours the brave and the owners of Caramel Café and Lounge must be commended for entering a highly competitive market albeit having chosen a strategic location, and creating something different from what used to be La Patisserie and without a doubt succeeding in this endeavour.
Caramel Café and Lounge is more than a café; call it a bistro or brasserie or a restaurant nobody will blame you. It does not matter, Caramel is just what the doctor ordered and it seems with time they get better at what they do.

Menu
With a menu so vast, one is hard pressed to decide on what to choose, nevertheless for something light and impressive I recommend the bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon which makes a wonderful meal priced at Shs 26,000. Not into fish, then go for the steak sandwich or better still the smoked turkey (if available).
In the event that you are in the mood for breakfast, the choices are legion but one can never go wrong with the chef’s breakfast special or the caramel combo. By the way, do you hanker for those true American pancakes? Look no further. For Shs18,000, you will be served two pancakes or waffles with fresh cream, chocolate syrup and fruit and a glass of juice.

Filling and ambience
For something more substantial and filling beef fillet served with a couple of sides and pepper sauce is a good choice while they also do a worthwhile grilled tilapia and grilled chicken skewers.
The experience at Caramel café and lounge is enthralling and consistently good. The service, food, cleanliness is all of the highest standard and all that we can say is they are certainly a welcome addition to the Kampala culinary scene.
