Symon

How would you describe Malaika Nnyanzi?
She is a beautiful young lady, a go-getter, free spirited and multi-talented in many art fields such as fashion, modelling, and emceeing. She is also confident.

What is your earliest memory of her?
When she was a little girl I used to carry her around. There is this picture we took when I was carrying her but don’t quite remember where it is. Now people might think we are agemates.

Which nickname did you have for her?
Malaika. It is actually her name.

What is she most scared of?
Failure. She will never fail.

Craziest thing she did as a child?
That might be hard because much as she’s my sister, it is her mother who is my aunt. So, we did not grow up together for the most part.

What is the craziest thing you did together?
Surprisingly, what impressed people is recently when we were on set. We were arguing all the time and off set, there is a time we were having a conversation and people thought we were still arguing. Later on, they realised we were not. It seemed weird.

Did you ever team up to fight someone?
No, we have never. We were brought up in a religious family so we never experienced that ‘violent’ side.

How often do you meet?
Rarely. We meet at events, once and in a while she comes home to check on her nephews and nieces. She is a busy girl.

What advice did you ever give her?
When she entered the art industry, I told her that she has it all but must maintain the focus and discipline.

Were you always friends?
Yes, we were even though she was very young. She, was however, so tight with my late sister Viola Nakalema. We were really not connecting well with them but when they became of age, we even started going out together, and having a drink with them. We even started being protective of her.

What do you like most about her?
She is full of life and she speaks her mind. She is black and white. What you see is what you get.

What don’t you like about her?
I’m only waiting for the day she will introduce me to someone. I want her to tell me that this is the guy. Because she’s so independent and I’m worried that she intimidates them. Her focus is threatening.

Malaika

How would you describe Symon Base Kalema?
Symon is focused, protective, loving and caring. He is also ambitious.

What is your earliest memory of him?
Because he is way older than me, I cannot remember exactly how we were back in the day.

Which nickname did you have for him?
We used to call him Mo. Which is the short form of Simon.

What is he most scared of?
I can’t really tell but all I know is that he loves his children so much that he can’t stand anything happening to them.

And the craziest thing he did as a child?
I will let that one pass.

What is the craziest thing you did together?
Playing together in Veronica’s Wish movie where we fought the entire movie.

Did you ever team up to fight someone?
No we have never. He was just acting a big brother most of the time.

How often do you meet?
Not often. We meet on rare occasions when we really have to.

What advice did you ever give him?
Because he has been in the industry longer, he told me to be focused, hardworking and take in all the criticism.

What do you like most about him?
His love for his family. To him, family comes first.
