Versatile. He dresses according to the occasion.

What you need to know:

MY STYLE. Hannington Bugingo is one of the directors of Fun Factory, one of the oldest comedy outfits in Uganda. ISAAC SSEJJOMBWE caught up with him.

What fashion style describes you?
I’m casual. I like jeans and T-shirts, sleeveless shirts, sneakers but when circumstances require me to dress differently, I adjust.

Why casual?
Because of the weather conditions. It is normally hot and dusty. Since I’m always on the move my style gives me freedom.

When did you start dressing like this?
In high school, I used to like basketball shirts.

Why that kind of dress code?
We grew up in the era of Tupac so we were influenced by his dress code.

What is your wardrobe must-have?
A good pair of shoes, jeans especially damaged (ripped) one, and T-shirts especially white Eko.

Why Eko?
They are high quality and rare. I have taken a while without buying one because they seem to be out of stock.

How many pairs of shoes do you have?
I own about 30 pairs of mostly sneakers.

How often do you go shopping?
I’m an impulsive buyer and so I don’t have a specific time to go shopping.

Where do you usually shop from?
I shop when I travel, also some my friends who stay in the UK and US buy what I send them for. I also buy around town.

What is the most expensive item in your wardrobe?
A black tuxedo suit that my friend, Martin Kalule bought for me when I was his best man.

How much did it cost?
About $500(approx. Shs2m) from California where he was staying.

And the cheapest item?
A white Adidas T-shirt that I bought at Shs5000 from Bunamwaya flea market. Surprisingly, it is one of my favourite T-shirts.

What fashion trend do you find outrageous?
I used to dislike men who wore trousers that went to their bust. They looked funny and then men who wear combination clothes in colours such as red, purple, and yellow.

Fitting or baggy clothes?
Fitting clothes.

Why?
Look at my height and imagine if I wore baggy clothes. I would look like a cartoon but fitting enhances my height.

For whom do you dress?
I dress to please myself but when I’m invited to events with a theme dress code, I respect it.

Do you go to the gym?
Yes, to keep healthy, keep in shape, be flexible and shed off the alcohol that I consume.

What do you do at the gym?
I do aerobics, lift light weights, skip the rope, do cardio and I also do road work at home once or twice a week at home. I do like six kilometres in about 30 minutes.

Which gym do you go to?
I go to Body Temple Gym near Rubaga church.

Let’s talk salon, where do you go?
Snap2 Barber salon at National Theatre. I go there twice a week and mainly to shave my beard.

What about your hair?
I have a haircut once every three months.

Why the two lines in your hair?
The lines are symbolic of the Nelson Mandela and Malcolm X times during their struggle for liberation.

How much do you spend in the salon?
I spend Shs10,000 on a haircut and Shs5,000 on the beard.
