Justine Kasule Lumumba and husband renewed vows
On Wednesday December 11, 2019, the NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba renewed her marriage vows with her husband Patrick at Rubaga Catholic Cathedral in Kampala. The couple has been married for 20 years, though this did not stop Justine Lumumba from dazzling in a decorated white gown highlighted with a beautiful tiara and a long veil while her husband wore an ash grey suit, matched with a silver bowtie to match the embellishments in his wife’s dress. The event was attended by friends and family.

MP Mukasa Mbidde was introduced by fiancée
Towards the end of the year, Fred Mukasa Mbidde got introduced by his fiancée only identified as Fiona in a kinyarwanda cultural ceremony. The wife -to- be of a re-known legislator is said to be a close relative of Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame. Mbidde dressed in the Kinyarwanda cultural wear gave his bride an engagement ring, a promise of an oncoming wedding. The colourful ceremony held in Luwero District was attended by few delegates that included State Minister for Micro Finance Haruna Kasolo, among other friends and family.

Rema Namakula introduces Hamza Ssebunya
November 14, 2019, was a day filled with joy as local artiste Rema Namakula introduced her man Hamza Ssebunya to her parents in Nabbingo, along Masaka road. The groom’s entourage set off from Kabira country club and arrived in Nabbingo at noon. Different TV personalities and celebrities such as Sylvia Nagginda, the Nabagereka of Buganda, Sheikh Muzaata Batte, city tycoon Godfrey Kirumira, Afrigo Band vocalist Joanita Kawalya graced the event. The bride made her official unveiling to her guests in a white gomesi with a green sash that matched her man’s coat. Unlike other men who gift cars to their women on the introduction, Rema’s sweet heart gifted her an award with her beautiful picture engraved on plus a guitar, a sign of his support for her career.
Just as it is with other introduction ceremonies, Ssebunya gifted his in-laws with lots of gifts including sacks of sugar, rice, salt, sodas, among others wrapped gifts. The other identified difference from the normal introduction ceremonies is that as Ssebunya changed outfits, this is very uncommon, especially in the Buganda culture. At the end, the bride thanked her new husband for God had answered her prayers by giving him to her. Ssebunya also vowed to love his bride forever.

Andrew Kyamagero weds Linda Ndagire
On May 16, the NTV News anchor, Andrew Kyamagero commonly known as Omuntu wawansi married the love of his life, Linda Ndagire in a civil ceremony by Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB). The bride wore a simple knee-length white wedding dress while Kyamagero rocked in a blue suit and red tie. Just like at their introduction, the bride went for a more natural make-up look. Days after, the couple threw a Roman-themed wedding party that happened at Buule Islands on May 18 2019. Given the theme, the couple and a few other celebrities among other guests showed up at the ceremony in Roman attires.

Daphine Frankstock introduces Patrick Idringi
On Sunday, June 3, 2019, Daphine Frankstock officially introduced Patrick Idringi, a popular stand-up comedian, commonly known as Salvador, to her parents in a ceremony that was held in Mityana District, Uganda. Both the bride and groom looked smart in their attires. The ceremony attracted a number of public figures including fellow comedians like Abbey Mukiibi, Madrat and Chiko, musicians like Ykee Benda, music promoters and journalists. Frankstock has famously won herself a reputation as the pretty lady behind one of Africa’s biggest comedians.

KS Alpha weds Sophie
Sulaiman Kamulegeya, aka KS Alpha, wedded his long time fiancée Sophie Nakayima on Sunday December 1 2019. This was done in a Nikkah ceremony at Kibuli mosque. The couple later hosted their guests at Nican Resort Hotel in Kajjansi off Entebbe where they danced and to the live music from Micheal Kitanda and Uganda’s top RnB sensation Naava Grey. The groom appeared in a black tuxedo, suspenders and velvet bow tie while his bride wore a long-sleeved lace trumpet gown paired with white stud earrings, a white birdcage veil which she covered up with a long white veil in accordance with the Islamic dress code for brides.

Edwin Musiime weds Christabell Nansubuga
Edwin Musiime, a re-known pastor and TV personality and co-host Christabell Nansubuga walked down the aisle on Saturday 10, August 2019 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. The wedding was officiated by UK based Evangelist Pastor Bruce Oliver, also a mentor of the groom. Unlike the other grooms who follow the tradition of having a best man next to them, Musiime had a best lady (Anitah Beryl). Christabell’s bridesmaids also appeared with different hairstyles as well as the dresses which is uncommon. The Musiimes later hosted their reception in Turaco Hall at the same hotel. The couple was cautioned to always portray and examine the presence of the fruits of the Holy Spirit in their marriage. These include love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Andrew Kabuura weds Flavia Tumusiime
The NTV workmates, Flavia Tumusiime and Andrew Kabuura officially tied the knot in January 2019. The couple exchanged vows at All Saints Cathedral before Bishop Zac Niringiye. The simple but beautiful couple later hosted their friends and family at Serena Hotel gardens. The reception was not for all, it was reportedly attended by only close family and friends.
