Heathens aim to put one hand on crown with Rams visiting

KAMPALA- Hima Cement Heathens rose to the summit of the Nile Special Rugby Premiership with a three-point cushion after humiliating Walukuba Barbarians 74-3 last week.

Their rise to the top had Pirates’ hand as the former defeated Betway Kobs 30-14 to send the latter to second.

With two games to go, all Heathens have to do is win both and Kyadondo will keep the ‘Holy Grail’ for another year to make 14 National League titles. They host MRI Rams today with no room for error but add another five points, as expected.

“We have been working hard because it’s the way to the top and we are finally there. It about holding our nerves in our last games and we can then think of the title,” said Cox Muhigwa last week after being handed the Man of Match medal against Walukuba.

After Rams, Heathens host Warriors to cap off what will be a remarkable season that has seen them improve from a fifth-place finish last year to a championship winning side this term. Observers cannot be faulted for already awarding Heathens the title as it would take a fatality for them to be denied.

At Legends, a bruised Kobs side, still reeling from Pirates stunning defeat, take on Warriors who have already sealed fourth place.
Kobs will look at the last 15 weeks and feel undone by themselves for sinking their own ship with the shore in sight. They will have to fight to ensure it doesn’t get worse than a second-place finish.

Tough debut season
Relegated Walukuba have had a tough debut season in the Super 10 and a fresh Shell Rimula Rhinos provides them with another daunting task. Rhinos sat out last round’s action while Walukuba were left on empty tanks after the Heathens thrashing.
Pirates are on a four-match winning streak and will be favourites against Buffaloes at Kings Park. Hippos will be the biggest travelers of the round as they move from Jinja to Entebbe to play Plascon Mongers.
