KAMPALA. The Guinness National Sevens Series enters round four today at Legends Rugby Club with Dusupay Warriors hosting the Mileke Sevens. The tournament will also honour Mr. and Mrs. Mileke, Papa and Mama as they have come to be known for have giving their all to rugby, including three sons Erasmus Aredo, Gabriel Aredo and Joseph Aredo.

The last three circuits have seen Betway Kobs and Stanbic Black Pirates make the finals but the former leads standings after winning two and losing the other. At 63 points, three more than Pirates at 60, both sides know there’s still lots to play for with five rounds to go. The two have been a class apart from the rest of the pack and the numbers show despite the race being far from over.

“It’s another opportunity for us to increase our lead at the top,” said Kobs’ stand-in coach Davis Kyewalabye. “It’s never easy because of the competition but at the same time we have to force results our way by working hard and that’s the plan,” he added.
Pirates were left disappointed after losing their home circuit to Kobs.

Captain Ivan Magomu hopes the upset can help spur his side on for a response today. “Last round’s result was hard to take for all of us. It was our home circuit and we wanted to win but things turned out different, we have now worked on where we fell short to get back to winning ways,” said Magomu. Hima Heathens and Toyota Buffaloes have looked like almost getting there yet they remain so far.

Semifinal finishes have characterised their campaigns and breaking that barrier should headline their Mileke Sevens campaign. Hosts Warriors also see this as an opportunity to make a statement by improving their fifth place finish at the Rujumba Sevens.
