KAMPALA. It took till the tail end of the third City Tyres-Pirelli Promotion to have at least one female customer drawn for the lifetime experience of watching the Formula One in Abu Dhabi due next Sunday.
And when that luck came, it struck twice. City Tyres director Hassan Ahmed had the first charm of picking a female winner; Rachael Kemigisha just before Italian deputy ambassador to Uganda H.E Lorenza Gambacorta picked Tracy Akello.
It was not the only time during the draw, at Maz Complex on Sixth Street in Industrial Area in Kampala, that luck struck twice. Biyinzika Poultry International, who have won the lesser prizes of full service and dinner for two in the first two promotions, had better luck this time winning two tickets on the final day.
First Federation of Motosport Uganda (FMU) president Dusman Okee picked them as November winners then they were later picked in the grand draw that included coupons of all customers over the last six months. “Biyinzika means it is possible so there is no surprise that they must have thought it’s possible to win two tickets today,” City Tyres marketing manager Herbert Bashasha, said lightheartedly.
Pirelli’s East African representative Giovanni Tolasi, who picked Abasi Balinda Transporters thanked the City Tyres group for holding such a transparent campaign.
“This has been a great and successful campaign because of the work ethic of everyone at City Tyres and I want to thank to them for their efforts,” Tolasi said.
Okee, who won a ticket last year, spoke for the past winners.
“Prepare for a five star experience. But even before that there are exciting things like the air show and when the superstars step into the arena, you will have an opportunity to see them at close range and during the prize ceremony you might have a chance for a handshake,” Okee said.
