  • Seventh-placed Wakiso Giants will hope the new technical team will start off on a fortunate note when they take on the Cops.

It will be a unique and exhilarating experience when longtime friends and Uganda Cranes assistant coaches; Livingstone Mbabazi and Abdallah Mubiru, lead their teams out in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) encounter at Kabaka-Kyabaggu Stadium, today.
Football purists anticipate Mubiru’s Police to bring out their possession football while the new Wakiso coach, Mbabazi, is expected to bring his take-no-prisoners and attacking approach.

This will not be the first time the bosom pair will face off but the high expectations at their current clubs demands more from them more than ever before.
“We have done internal preparations, worked on our emotions and thoughts as a team because we have to do a good job if we are to survive relegation,” Mubiru told SCORE.
“We have to work harder irrespective of the prevailing worrying conditions. Good enough, our bosses have partly paid the players arrears.”
Third from bottom on the log, Mubiru tags most of their woes in the first round on financial issues.

“We began the first round with minus six points and we don’t want to start the second with the same problems,” explained Mubiru.
“Wakiso Giants are financially motivated and have a good coach but we are wounded dogs hungry for three points.”

Good brand of football
Missing striker Herman Wasswa, and welcoming back Hood Kaweesa and Derrick Kakooza, Mubiru will not to compromise on their attacking football style. “I won’t sacrifice our good brand of football. The clash is going to be challenging for me and my brother Mbababzi but it won’t take away the respect and friendship we have for each other.”

Seventh-placed Wakiso Giants will hope the new technical team will start off on a fortunate note when they take on the Cops.
“We have had good preparations and we hope to give fans a good spectacle. Our target is to improve on the first round results and lift the team to a better position,” Mbabazi’s auxiliary, Baker Kasule said. Experienced midfielders Kirizestom Ntambi and Tom Masiko may miss Wakiso Giants’ bid to exact vengeance on Police that edged them 2-1 at Lugogo in the reverse fixture.
