KAMPALA-The National Rally Championship (NRC) title race is down to two after a dramatic end to the Total Umospoc Kabalega Rally last month.

This comes after three drivers Ronald Ssebuguzi, the three time national champion, Hassan Alwi and Christakis Fitidis, the 2017 champions dropped out of contention.

It will be a straight shoot-out between Yasin Nasser the current championship leader and Arthur Blick Jr the 2015 national champion for the 2019 title.

The Mosac Rally, the final round on the FMU calendar is set for November 30-December 1 in Kapeeka, Luweero District.
The momentum and experience is with Blick Jr and George Ssemakula in Shell Helix sponsored Mitsubishi Evo X after their back-to-back wins while Nasser and Ali Katumba in Moil sponsored Subaru GVB have been more consistent and are yet to drop out of an event.
Who will blink first?
After his triumph in Hoima, an excited Blick Jr could not wait for the next event as he lamented his frustrations early in the season. “I have been very hungry for a win in the past three years, God has blessed me with two in a row,” Blick Jr chasing his second title in five years told SCORE. “We are now in the contention for our second title. We have started fine tuning the car.”

Blick Jr is not worried about the Kapeeka terrain. “We are ready for any terrain Kapeeka, Jinja or Mbale. We have a plan for all conditions.”

Blick Jr, also the 10 time national MX champion thanked his navigator Ssemakula for the wonderful work especially in the last three events, the Pearl Rally, Fort Portal and Hoima. He also thanked his sponsors and the technical team led by manager Amin Ameen for fine tuning the car and the family of John Magara who made sure they had comfortable stay in Hoima. However, Nasser remains confident he can pull it off for his maiden title.

“We have prepared well this season, the car has been behaving, the puncture in the last section was the first one this season. But that’s normal,” the Moil driver said with confidence.

“Our goal in the final event is a podium finish. The title is ours to lose.” Apart from the NRC title, the 2WD and CRC title will be at stake in Kapeeka.
