Plascon Mongers find themselves at the peak of the Nile Special Stout Rugby Premiership after two Matchdays with a third pitting them against Betway Kobs this evening in Entebbe.

Wins away to Buffaloes and home against Hippos have pushed Mongers atop with eight points. They must however add to their two match winning streak against Kobs if they are to maintain the lead. Both Buffaloes and Hippos are not cheap tasks but in Kobs’ visit, Mongers have their first big test of the campaign and a great opportunity to make a statement by getting one over the visitors.

“There is a new feeling in the camp, we are more of a unit and that will help us get results because we are all looking out for each other,” Mongers’ wing Joseph Bulago warned before the league kicked off. Perhaps the newfound chemistry plays its role in delivering a masterclass today.

Kobs moved from seventh to fourth after delivering the league’s first bonus point win against Buffaloes last week. Coach Davis Kyewalabye knows Mongers will table a good examination but his troops cannot afford to go missing.

“Playing in Entebbe is a challenge we are braced for. We have to there with the mentality of playing to win,” said Kyewalabye.

9Barrels Warriors entertain Rimula Rhinos at Legends in another pick of the round, in a game that is never short of thrills as both sides struggle to walk the pre-game talk. Warriors in second place face Ivan Markmot, who coached them to fourth place last season, before joining Rhinos, where he has assembled a relatively new young side.
