Cairo. The two power house in Africa’s football Nigeria Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, the defending champions clash in the round of 16 in Alexandria tonight.
They will clash in the Nations Cup for the sixth time, the Super Eagles have won three of the previous five matches.
The Indomitable Lions only win came in 2000 final in Lagos via penalties. The only draw between the two neighbors came in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Yaounde. The match ended 1-1.
The Super Eagles coached by Gernot Rohr from Germany, will bank on their impressive record against five time African champion.
Nigeria has an upper hand in this fixture in terms of scoring goals, netting 12 of the 16 goals, Cameroon has four.
The German coach has vowed to fix the scoring problem. Nigeria have scored only two goals in group stage.
Rohr will hope his strikers Odion Ighalo and Alexander Iwobi find their scoring form to guide them to quarters.
Seedorf on test
Like his counterpart of Super Eagles, Clarence Seedorf the Indomitable Lions coach is scratching his head looking for scoring solution.
His team has scored only two goals in the current campaign in their opener against Guinea- Bissau. The Dutch- born coach will look to Clinton N’Jie, Stéphane Bahoken, Eric Maxim and Choupo-Moting for goals.
