KAMPALA. The three Ugandans on Kabras Sugar books: Phillip Wokorach, Asuman Mugerwa and Eliphaz Emong will be praying for better fortunes when the sugar men host KCB RFC in this year’s Kenya Cup final. History favors KCB, having beaten Kabras in the 2017 and 2018 finals.
They are also the only team to have beaten Kabras during regular season. But Kabras are unbeaten at home this season and hosting the final game doubles their belief.

Ugandan maestro Phillip Wokorach was part of those painful losses to the bankers and will understandably be gearing at putting up a magical display to revenge. Wokorach, who is jointly topping the try-scoring charts with Stanbic Mwamba veteran Collins Injera on 23, knows that this is the best opportunity to enter the history books as the first Ugandan export to win a topscorer’s crown in Kenya.

He also knows that winning the league will put him in pole position in the contest for the Kenya Cup player of the year award. Wokorach has been in imperious form, scoring 204 points, 83 of those from the boot and is expected to be a thorn in the KCB shoes. However, there are concerns that at flyhalf, he does not impose himself on the game like he does from his natural position of fullback.

Ever since the South African playmaker, Logan Basson, returned home seven weeks ago, Wokorach has ably stood in. “I have no problem at No.10, really. I have scored a number of tries from this position and assisted many others. As a complete rugby player, you have to play various positions, which am doing,” argued Wokorach.

Kabras have one league trophy, which they won in 2016 with Ugandans James Odong, Charles Uhuru and Gerald Ssewankambo. Wokorach, Mugerwa and Emong will hope to be another Ugandan trio to win it and have a share off the shs.36m (Ksh1m) that the winner walks away with.

Must to better. Ugandan maestro Phillip Wokorach was part of those painful losses to the bankers and will understandably be gearing at putting up a magical display to revenge.
