Douglas Rwothomio of Uringi Secondary School in Nebbi, was busy preparing for his final exams which start next week, little knowing he would not make it.
He died shortly after eating food that is believed to have been contaminated. Sources at the school who preferred not to be named in order to speak freely, said Rwothomio developed stomach ache after eating cassava he had bought from a food vendor within the school.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the death with one arrest already made. The district OC/CID, Mr Henry Mulindwa, told Daily Monitor on Wednesday that the 66-year-old woman is being detained to help with investigations.
“We want to handle this case expeditiously because it is already a loss to the family,” he said. After the death, students attempted to lynch the woman. But she was rescued by the headmaster and the police.
