Local film fetches $6,100

KAMPALA

IN what could be called the special ushering in of Christmas this year, a local movie, Down This Road I Walk was yesterday unveiled at Theatre Labonita in Kampala The movie was produced by re-known artist Mariam Ndagire.

Ms Ndagire instantly became a millionaire when she bagged $6,100 (Shs10.4 million) from auctioning of the DVDs of the movie. Ms Ndagire said she would use the money to buy a car and  try to develop Uganda's movie industry.    

Mr Joseph Kabuleta, a New Vision  scribe represented moneyman Mr Michael Ezra who was supposed to be the chief guest. Mr Kabuleta handed $5,000 in cash to Ms Ndagire. Another $1,000 came from Ms Hellen Kakyo, while Kampala Mayor Nasser Ntege Sebaggala raised $100. 

The movie that was produced by Trendz Studios depicts parents who influence their  children (especially daughters) to marry men, whom they presume to be  rich, by  using witchraft.
