Bebe Cool plans legal action against police

Singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool has vowed to take legal action against the Uganda Police, Daily Monitor has learnt. Bebe Cool who is still undergoing treatment at Nsambya Hospital told Daily Monitor in an exclusive interview that his lawyers are already preparing all necessary documents to make sure he is compensated for the injuries, time and money he is set to lose while in hospital.

“Of course I’m taking legal action. I’ve already talked to my lawyers and they are processing necessary documents to see to it that the Uganda Police is held responsible,” the artiste said.

Bebe Cool, who is hospitalised at Nsambya Hospital after a Special Police Constable shot and injured him and three of his minders on Saturday morning, underwent second surgery on Sunday morning . He said he was still feeling pain in both thighs.

During the interview, fellow musicians Jose Chameleone, Bobi Wine, Silver Kyagulanyi and Buchaman visited him. The musicians are also demanding a public apology from the police.
“They (fellow musicians) have promised to work with my legal team to ensure that this case is thoroughly investigated and the Police compensate me,” Bebe Cool added.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Community Policing, Mr Assan Kasingye said there were no charges pressed against the musician yet. “I think there were emotions involved in this shooting. In fact the police has to do a lot of explaining as far as the said the shooting is concerned not Bebe Cool,” Mr Kasingye said.
