Police in Kampala are hunting for an 11-year-old boy for allegedly pouring acid on a businessman, Shafik Agaba.
Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said the unidentified boy approached Agaba’s shop in Kyebando, Kampala at around 9.30 pm on Sunday holding a jug containing liquid.

Thinking he was a client, Agaba, who was inside his shop moved closer to inquire what the boy wanted. However, he instead emptied the content on him.
Mr Enanga says that Agaba was burnt on the arm and one part of his head. The boy fled as Agaba screamed for help.

Residents later alerted Kira Road Division police that rushed Agaba to Naguru hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

Preliminary investigations, according to Mr Enanga, indicate that the boy could have been hired by former husband to Agaba’s wife.

Agaba had earlier indicated that his wife’s ex-husband was sending him death threats in form texts messages, phone calls and confrontation.

Kira Road police have since teamed up with Kyebando police to trace for the boy.

Mr Enanga said that residents had earlier seen the minor in the area but they were yet to get his particulars.
“The boy took off but some people we have talked to say they know him. We want to arrest him so that we get to know the person who sent him. What we know so far is that Agaba's wife, one Aisha separated with her first husband who has allegedly been sending Agaba death threats. We are trying to establish whether the acid attack is connected to the death threats," Mr Enanga said.

Police have already sent a team to trace for Aisha’s ex-husband.
Agaba’s incident comes just one month after Kawempe Division police arrested, Ronald Musisi, for allegedly pouring acid on his wife, Harriet Najjuma, leading to her death.

The deceased and her friend were last month attacked with acid by unknown people at Kawempe B zone in the evening hours. Najjuma and the other victim were rushed to Kiruddu hospital, Makindye Division, in Kampala where Najjuma succumbed to acid injuries a few days later.
