18-year-old woman raped, killed in her house in Wakiso

Residents of Wakimese Zone in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District have been left in shock after one of their colleagues was allegedly raped and killed.

Authorities said on Monday that the body of Norine Nalubega, 18, had burns of hot water with sticks forced into her private parts.
Residents said that they learnt about the death of their colleague after a neighbour alerted them.

"The neighbour informed the area chairman about the incident after getting concerned with a bad smell and numerous houseflies from one of the rooms. Eventually the chairman appeared with instruments to unlock the door. Unfortunately, it was a body lying in a pool of blood on the bed. ... We don't know where she came from," Ms Josephine Namuli, a resident said.

Mr Christopher Ganaggwa, the LC1 chairman of Wakimese Zone, said Nalubega has been selling tea and porridge in the area for survival.
"We suspect that he was killed by one of her boyfriends - the one she was introducing to us as a brother and he's currently on the run. It is sad that we don't know his whereabouts because the landlord failed to give us the particulars of this man," Mr Ganaggwa said.
Detectives from Kyengera Police Station have took the body to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem pending further investigations.

Mr Robert Walugembe, the area defence secretary urged tenants and landlords to ensure that they register their particulars in local council records to help leaders trace their relatives in times of difficulty.
